Assumes the role and responsibility of a Psychologist; functions as an integral member of the Neuroscience Institute and Department of Neurology clinical staff. Performs the scope of duties and responsibilities listed below in accordance with the American Psychological Association and N.J. Board of Psychological Examiners guidelines. Provides diagnostic and treatment services for pediatric to geriatric populations. Full time position for NSI at HUMC, Paramus facility.
1. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of a psychologist as prescribed by training and standards and delineated by the medical staff appointment. 2. Functions as a clinician in evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and adjustment disorders and psychological adaptation of patients and their families to neurological illnesses. 3. Conducts psychological evaluations and treatment and interprets findings to patients, families, and referring physicians and agencies within HIPAA guidelines. 4. Completes written reports and psychotherapy notes in a timely fashion. 5. Serves as an interdisciplinary team member. 6. Reviews other providers notes and communicates with them in order to optimize care and coordination. 7. Contributes to development of new programs; participates in grant proposals; conducts research. 8. Presents periodic in-service to staff. 9. Teaches/supervises medical residents, psychology intems/extems, practicum students and other students. 10 Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center¿s organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Doctoral degree in psychology or related field. 2. Appointed to the medical staff. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. New Jersey Psychologist License.
