The Supervisor, MRI is responsible for the daily activities and overall operations of the MRI department.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor, MRI at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Supervises, as well as performs all MRI procedures to the highest diagnostic quality and accuracy.
2. Oversees staff training to maintain the highest quality diagnostic images.
3. Assures proper operating performance of all equipment, as well as being knowledgeable of MRI equipment, their function, and operation of each control.
4. Responsible for all regulatory compliance including, but not limited to ACR, Joint Commission, NJDEP, DOH etc....
5. Communicates with nursing services and physicians to obtain pertinent clinical information of MRI patients.
6. Acts as the MSO for the MRI department.
7. Ensures the availability of necessary supplies to maintain efficient department functionality.
8. Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exam in allotted time. Images should have proper patient identification.
9. Performs daily clerical duties, which includes the use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer systems, patient scheduling, and any other updated program added by the hospital.
10. Prepares payroll, staff schedules, on-call coverage sheets, and overtime approval forms.
11. Evaluates and recommends equipment, including capital equipment.
12. Performs and teaches the staff technologists how to screen and administer IV contrast.
13. Schedules monthly departmental meetings and monthly departmental in-services utilizing staff and outside companies.
14. Flexibility in work schedule (including weekends & holidays) as needed to provide continual quality patient care and department needs.
15. Responsible at all times for maintaining MRI Safety Zones.
16. Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
17. Assists in preparation of the budget.
18. Performs all tasks as required by MRI Technologist demonstrating the knowledge and skill to provide patient care.
19. Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality. 
20. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
21. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
22. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
23. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Graduate of an approved school of radiology or an MRI training program.
2. Minimum of three years of clinical experience in an MRI environment.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Clinical leadership experience.
2. Bachelor's degree.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Tech.
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

 

Working Conditions:

Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
