The Associate Physicist is responsible for existing or new applications in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Associate Physicist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Acceptance testing of new or replaced ionizing radiation producing equipment in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.
  • Design and evaluate radiation protective shielding with the Medical Center, as well as satellite facilities.
  • Establish and implement a required regulatory preventive maintenance program within diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology. This includes required testing of the following equipment: general radiographic, general fluoroscopic, computer tomography, mobile radiographic, mobile fluoroscopic, dental, cabinet, cardiac catheterization, mammography, mammography stereotactic, digital radiography, and simulator.
  • Performing radiation protection surveys as required by the NJDEP Bureau of Radiological Health.
  • Work with genetic counseling to calculate the radiation dose to the fetus when required.
  • Keep abreast of the evolving ionizing radiation techniques in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Master of Science in Physics or related field.
  • Three years clinical experience in diagnostic medical physics.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Five years clinical experience in diagnostic medical physics.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
  • Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics.
Contacts:

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $180,918.40 Annually
