The Project Manager, HR Planning reports to the Dir, HR Operations Planning and is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing multiple enterprise-wide short- and long-term HR initiatives simultaneously and assisting with getting all projects completed in an efficient manner. The Project Mgr, HR Planning will interact with multiple HR and Operational business partners across the organization to understand project needs, assess impacts, and put together thoughtful plans to manage those projects from end to end. The Project Mgr, HR Planning will work with the Director to evaluate projects from a network/harmonized approach and ensure project practicality in terms of budget and scope, determine timeline and prioritization, and secure HR leadership support. This position will vary depending on scope and number of HR projects; it may require the Project Mgr, HR Planning to be closely involved in managing a small number of projects, actively supporting one large project, or providing oversight to a number of projects. This position provides subject matter expertise and leads the creation of standardized tools and methodologies for initiative and project management. This position will also entail a high degree of coordination with HR communications to ensure a network approach to projects and to minimize disruption to both HR and the organization. This position performs required tasks and initiatives following the guidelines and procedures established. This position maintains appropriate documentation and records and delivers services in a professional and efficient manner. This position is accountable for ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and an overall positive team member experience.

  • Strategic Partner:  Acts as consultants to business leaders, providing insights and recommendations on talent management, organizational development, and other HR-related matters that impact business performance. They participate in strategic planning meetings and offer HR perspectives on business decisions.
  • Change Agent: Leads and manage change initiatives within their assigned business units, ensuring that HR processes and programs support the desired changes. This includes things like restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and implementing new technologies.
  • Employee Advocate: Advocates for team members, ensuring fair treatment and a positive work environment. They address team member concerns, promote employee engagement, and work to resolve conflicts.
  • Performance Management: Provides guidance to leaders on performance management and addressing performance issues.
  • Talent Acquisition and Development: Collaborates with talent acquisition teams to ensure the right talent is hired and contribute to talent development programs to enhance team member skills and capabilities.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Provides input and guidance on compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with business needs.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Uses data analytics to understand workforce trends, identify areas for improvement, and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
  • Compliance and Legal: Ensures compliance with HR policies and practices.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Project Manager at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • Develops, coordinates, and implements large- and small-scale projects, actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to the success of the project. Prepares presentations and reports showing project status and results.
  • Owns and manages multiple, concurrent enterprise-level projects. Mobilizes project teams and clearly articulates the plan along with roles and responsibilities for each project team member and stakeholder. Responsible for managing overall project performance.
  • Assists the Director on a broad range of internal and external activities and special projects including but not limited to new hospital and health system affiliations, mergers, integrations into the network and divestitures out of the network; network harmonization and integration efforts; site HR operations support, HR Centers of Excellence new program execution and all administrative matters. Gathers, synthesizes and consolidates materials for distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works with project sponsors to drive project objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive communication plan across teams. Provides management and strategic direction to cross-functional teams.
  • Views all projects through a global lens, with harmonization and transformation at the root of all projects.
  • Identifies risks/issues that impact the execution and success of projects (e.g., resource availability, funding needs, functional discrepancies, testing errors, etc.). Responsible for driving issues to resolution and escalating unresolved issues to the leadership team in a timely manner. Develops options and recommendations to drive critical decisions.
  • Effectively monitors, measures, and communicates program status to stakeholders and executives.
  • Proactively identifies efficiencies for business processes and assists in development of those processes.
  • Gathers and compiles information regarding scope, timeline, tasks, and dependencies and develops detailed project plans (e.g., using Google Sheets, MS Excel, or other project planning software).
  • Prepares meeting agendas and documents meeting outcomes and next steps. Ensures next steps are actioned, following up with key stakeholders, as needed
  • Facilitates meetings and written program/project updates with key internal project team members, business stakeholders, and leadership through creation of emails, presentations, and status slides.
  • Supports HR leaders and team members in understanding initiatives and change management. Answers general HR questions and escalates concerns as appropriate.
  • Supports compliance initiatives as needed, including but not limited to licensure and certifications, Joint Commission survey support, and vaccine mandates.
  • Measures and continually improves processes, procedures, programs, and services that enhance the ability to manage workflow within the department.
  • Responsible for handling confidential and time sensitive material.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in consulting, project management, or program implementation.
  • Forward thinking and works independently with little to no supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR functions and processes, with experience in one or more areas: HR Strategy, HR Operating Models, HR M&A integration, and HR Centers of Excellence.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of business acumen, sound judgment and discretion in decision making, problem solving and project management in a fast paced, high-performance environment.
  • Proficient in either Microsoft or Google office suite, with strong analytical (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) and presentation (Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides) skills.
  • Experience working in a complex and matrix environment, working with senior leadership.
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and partnership skills.
  • Intuitive and results oriented with a strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and disciplined with a strong work ethic and sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrates self-initiative and self-confidence, a quick study and is able to accept delegated responsibilities and to initiate change.
  • Deadline driven and results/goal oriented.
  • Open to continuous learning of new project management, analytic and organizational skills to best meet the needs of the clients.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Minimum of 5 years HR experience.
  • Experience with PMBOK, Agile or other Project Management methodology.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • HR certification.
  • Project Management certification.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $95,555.20 Annually
