The Aesthetician performs skin care services and assists in the care of the patient within The Beyond Spa.

A day in the life of an Aesthetician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Assists clients with the sale of and guidance with retail products.
• Educates clients on an ongoing basis about skin care and new advancements.
• Provides excellent and appropriate skin care for clients.
• Participates in marketing strategies.
• Handles laundering, food and beverage services as needed.
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
• Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• 5 years professional experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• License Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Skin Care Specialist or License Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Cosmetologist-Hairstylist or License Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Beautician.
