The ALS Instructor is responsible for conducting training and education at the advanced and basic life support levels in concert with the overall mission of the EMS training center. Provides logistical support for on-site and off-site courses, supports EMS training Center leadership through clerical and operational functions in addition to teaching courses.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a ALS Instructor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Able to conduct training and education at the advanced and basic life support level in concert with the overall mission of the EMS training center.
2. Provides logistics support for onsite and offsite course offerings.
3. Supports EMS training center leadership through clerical and operational functions in addition to teaching courses.
4. Needs to maintain a paramedic certification or higher and ALS and BLS Instructor certifications.
5. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
6. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. A minimum of 2 years of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience in any capacity.
3. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
4. Strong Interpersonal Skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Minimum of 1-year Instructor experience.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. National Registry Paramedic, Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic Certification, Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification or a higher-level medical license.
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification.
5. Valid Driver's License from a USA state.

 

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

1. AHA ACLS Instructor Certification.
2. AHA PALS Instructor Certification.
3. AHA BLS Instructor Certification.
4. Emergency Medical Technician aid.
5. EMR Instructor Certification.

 

Working Conditions:

Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 25 lbs., and stands at least 3 hours daily.

Starting Minimum Rate

Flat Rate of $46.11 Hourly
