The EMT Instructor Aide is a certified EMT who is seeking to become an EMT instructor (instructor candidate). The instructor aide must meet the entry requirements set by the New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services. The instructor aide works directly with the EMT Instructor to develop his/her skill set of classroom management, education strategies and course design.
A day in the life of a EMT Instructor Aide at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Serves as an apprentice in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMS educational program offerings.
2. Under oversight of the Instructor, prepares and delivers instruction at the EMS Training Center or off-site, as needed; oversees the activities of course participants during instructional time.
3. Evaluates learner performance, provides feedback, and develops learner remediation plans.
4. Fulfills EMS educational program administrative requirements, to include calculation and submission of grades, maintenance of program, course, and accurate student/participant records, and preparation and submission of data and reports.
5. Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
6. Adheres to established University and departmental policies and procedures and relevant quality and safety standards.
7. Adapt EMS curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends.
8. Participates in activities that promote the EMS Training Center, to include student recruiting, and program marketing events, as appropriate.
9. May assist the instructor in guiding and training staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
11. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
