The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Cardiovascular Technologist will perform diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound with documentation of anatomic measurements for abnormal or suspicious anatomy. Perform various cardiac and vascular testing, including echocardiogram, carotid duplex scan, venous, and arterial vascular ultrasound studies.

 

 

This is a Cardiology practice with 14 staff members and 2 doctors 

 

Schedule is Full Time 36 hours a week: Monday - Thursday 8am - 4:30pm and  Friday 8am - 12pm

Candidates should be certified to perform Echocardiograms as well as Carotid duplex scans


We prefer 2 years of practical experience

 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and Cardiovascular Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exam in allotted time.
  • Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by Medical Center.
  • Performs portable ultrasound exams.
  • Performs a variety of complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound. Assist physicians with Ultrasound guided Interventional procedures, and color-flow ultrasound as required.
  • Determines, prepares, and sets up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explain procedures, measures and position patients for each anatomical view.
  • Evaluates technical quality of images. Obtains and processes images of pathogenic conditions in accordance with standard procedures or techniques.
  • Maintains records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required. Calculates, compiles, and records data from numerical readings on patient's charts and related documents.
  • Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning. Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment. Stocks and replenish supplies as required.
  • Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
  • Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and /or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft office and/ or google suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Graduate of a certified Cardiovascular technology school or graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program with a specialty in Cardiac sonography.
  • 1 to 2 years of practical experience in an office or hospital setting is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer License or Registered Cardiac Sonographer License and Registered Vascular Technologist Certification or Registered Vascular Specilalist Certification. 
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 30 days of entering position.
