The Laundry Worker processes linen in an industrial laundry setting.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Laundry Worker at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • Folds linen and transports to storage and delivery carts.
  • Delivers processed linens via an exchange cart system and a PAR replenishment system.
  • Processes linen through automated equipment such as the ironer.
  • Performs continuous quality inspection of linen for stains and tears.
  • Picks up soiled linen and transports to processing area.
  • Posts sort damp clean linen into classifications at the rate of the wash machine speed when assigned.
  • Assists cleaning of work areas, sweeping and dusting.
  • Prepares exchange and PAR carts.
  • Feeds washing machines with soiled linen.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Centers Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a production environment.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience in a laundry service.
  • Prior experience with high volume automated machinery.
