The Clerical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and secretarial tasks to maintain departmental operation.

 

*This is a very busy practice and the team is looking for a candidate that has Medical Office experience*

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Clerical Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Maintains operation of the clerical services including, but not limited to typing, filing, billing, and transcription.
  • Assists with special projects as instructed, composes memos, transcribes notes, and researches and creates presentations.
  • Assists professional staff in retrieving essential patient or general information.
  • Screens and transfers callers, arranges meetings, maintains files, distributes mail, and maintains office supplies.
  • Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals and files.
  • Generates reports, handles multiple projects, and prepares and monitors invoices and expense reports.
  • May assist with compiling and developing the annual budget.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing, and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • May assist with schedules and maintain contact with outside agencies.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience in health care or corporate sectors.
