The Infrastructure Engineer IV maintains the organization's IT infrastructure, which may include hardware, software, servers, storage solutions, networks, or physical facilities. Accountable for all engineering, architecture and strategy of enterprise storage and virtualization in the company's data centers and facilities. The role spans the data center, cloud and desktop spaces as they tie to virtualization and storage provisioning/process/procedure implementation. Handles the most complex issues. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring and training to lower level Infrastructure Engineers.

 

On-site at Edison, NJ office every two weeks or as required for go-lives or other support needs. Not to exceed 50% on-site.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Infrastructure Engineer IV at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Maintains the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Configures, installs, maintains, and provides support for critical software and hardware components.
  • Monitors system availability and troubleshoots and resolves connectivity interruptions.
  • Measures and improves performance and scalability.
  • Helps develop disaster recovery or business continuity plans.
  • Responsible for basic management of storage solutions.
  • Produces documentation for systems and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and new trends.
  • Provides mentoring, guidance and general oversight to less experienced Team Members in a variety of infrastructure design, implementation, training and administration.
  • Ensures compliance with audit or other applicable compliance guidelines.
  • Keep up on industry trends and current technological standards, tools and operational considerations.
  • Make suggestions for process, implementation and performance improvements and drive results.
  • Virus management, assist in the day-to-day tasks critical patching, vulnerability remediation, meeting desired state and configurations.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
  • Adheres to the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems management, information systems, or a related field, and/or applicable technical certificate and/or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an Information Technology department in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of security concepts and technologies, including PCI & PHI understanding.
  • Knowledge of VMware, vSphere.
  • Knowledge of enterprise-scale patch management & related maintenance methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP & DFS.
  • Knowledge of enterprise storage, SAN, NAS.
  • Knowledge of network principles, protocols & Technologies.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of backup & Recovery procedures including DR.
  • Ability to multitask and strong analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Strong organization skills.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • VMware, EMC, Cisco or Microsoft products certifications.
