Responsible for providing basic nutrition assessments and care planning for patients and residents. Implements business practices in order to uphold hospital mission and values.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Dietitian at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Directs dietary care of patients with basic nutrition needs including screening, assessment and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and patient satisfaction levels are met.
  • Educates medical staff and counsels patients and their families on proper nutritional care.
  • Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Hackensack Meridian Health standards and policies.
  • Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets and menu requests.
  • Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice.
  • Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues. 
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Hackensack Meridian Health policies and procedures (e.g. HIPAA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
  • Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Entry level experience
  • PC skills and its applicable applications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Acute care clinical or related experience

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within 60 days of entering position.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $68,473.60 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
