The Hospitality Attendant is responsible for welcoming guests in a polite and respectful manner, to provide patients and guests with guidance and directions. Assist patients with wheelchairs or other support when needed. Maintain a clean and presentable workspace and entrance to the medical center.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Hospitality Attendant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Welcomes, directs, and assists patients and visitors to the medical center by proactively greeting them in a courteous fashion utilizing proper verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Assists incoming and outgoing guests with wheelchairs and getting in and out of vehicles as requested.
  • Remains visible and positions themself at the front entrance.
  • Escorts or arranges for escort of patients requiring a wheelchair to their location as necessary.
  • Works as a team in keeping staging areas clear and maintaining smooth traffic flow in and out of the traffic circle.
  • Directs guests to parking locations.
  • Maintains traffic control in the entrance circle as well as pedestrian traffic in the walkway.
  • Notifies the security department in the event of any accident.
  • Collects wheelchairs and coordinates with the Information and Guest Services department for availability to the JFK and JRI lobby.
  • Serves as a resource to patients and visitors waiting in area(s) of coverage.
  • Keeps their work area clean and routinely conducts environmental observations of surrounding areas to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Completes One Link report for any event not consistent with routine operations of the facility (events may include patients, visitors, or volunteers).
  • May be required to stand for all or part of shift and physically assist patients and visitors.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Standing, walking, visual acuity, manual dexterity and working in the outdoor elements.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $17.38 Hourly
