The General surgery and surgical subspecialty Nurse Practitioner manages the overnight inpatient and operative needs of surgical patients in conjunction with, and under the supervision of an attending physician . The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various patient populations which includes the overall management of the orthopedic surgical patient, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic testing, development of appropriate plans of care, therapeutic interventions. They maintain a collaborative work environment that is safe, just, and founded on principles of high reliability and quality outcomes for patients and colleagues. The NP will perform duties in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as network policies, NP scope of practice guidelines, approved clinical privileges and the JFKUMC NP policy. The Nurse Practitioner reports to the department clinical lead and Director of Advanced Practice Providers, Full time includes weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
2. MSN with Advanced Practice Nurse credentials.
3. Minimum of 5 years RN/Specialty experience.
4. Demonstrates effective communication and leadership skills including teaching principles, organizational and presentation skills 5. Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Minimum of 2 years experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Advance Practice Nurse License.
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
3. RNFA certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
