Provides instruction for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) educational offerings, and participates in program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Participates in related projects.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an EMT Instructor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Participates in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating EMS educational program offerings.
2. Under oversight of the Lead Instructor, prepares and delivers instruction at the EMS Training Center or off-site, as needed; oversees the activities of course participants during instructional time.
3. Evaluate learner performance, provide feedback, and develop learner remediation plans.
4. Fulfills EMS educational program administrative requirements, including calculating and submitting data and accurate reports.
5. Participate in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
6. Adheres to established HMH and departmental policies and procedures and relevant quality and safety standards.
7. Adapt EMS curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends.
8. Participate in activities that promote the EMS Training Center, including student recruiting and program marketing events, as appropriate.
9. May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers as appropriate to the area of operation.
10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
11. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. At least two years of EMS experience.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
4. Knowledge of the delivery of emergency medical services in the State of New Jersey; adult learning theory and methodologies; EMS educational program accreditation processes and standards; State of New Jersey Office of EMS rules and regulations.
5. Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills.
6. Knowledge of competency-based education principles and methods.
7. Basic Computer Skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. New Jersey EMT Instructor.
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
3. Certified in ICS 100 and ICS 200 Certification.
4. National Incident Management System-Independent Study-700 and National Incident Management System - 800.
5. Valid Driver's License from a USA state.

 

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

1. BLS Instructor Trainer.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $22.77 Hourly

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
