The Manager, Radiation Therapy manages the department, establishes policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the provision of radiological services; evaluates performance and maintains quality assurance; coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of services to patients.
A day in the life of a Manager of Radiation Therapy at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Workflow: Implements safety procedures, staff education, and radiation therapy education as required to non-therapeutic staff. Represents the department at administrative conferences, committees, and seminars. Represents the department on interdisciplinary such as Radiation Safety, Leadership and Operations Committee. In cooperation with the Medical Director, assures all therapeutic services are in accordance with standard established by the medical staff, standard medical practices and all state, local, federal and regulatory agencies.
2. Functions as a liaison between physicians and therapists and HMH support staff.
3. Works within the Health System in the development of programs and services to improve patient care and reduce costs such as group purchasing and HIS standardization.
4. Radiation Management: Assures delivery of quality radiation services for inpatients, outpatients, and employees.
5. Assures that departmental services are in accordance with standards established by the medical staff and state, local, federal, and all regulatory agencies.
6. Maintains the same standard level of care in all areas regardless of location or patient type.
7. Assists the radiation safety officer in recommending programs for technical aspects of radiation safety and regularly reviews and maintains records such as those for personal radiation exposure, dose calibration, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance.
8. Prepares and maintains all records relevant to licensing or regulatory agencies.
9. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
10. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of 3 years of acute care supervisory experience.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Master's Degree
2. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
3. Experience with EPIC HIS system preferred.
