The Supervisor of Secondary Education assists with the operation of the management and supervision of students attending East Mountain School on a daily basis, while monitoring a safe and orderly school environment; assists with the overall planning, implementation and evaluation of department programs including budget management, policy/procedure, report writing, and staff /student attendance. Incorporates the organization's Mission, Values, and Service Standard Behavior guidelines in the fulfillment of all duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor of Secondary Education at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Responsible for the management of school operations including: planning and implementing school programs, staff and student schedules, supervision of staff, evaluation of student IEPs, conduct groups, database up-to-date record-keeping, parent and district notification.
2. Financial Legal Operations provider as a participant in the school program budget formation including: payroll obligations purchase requisition instructional supply ordering, educational excursion facilitation, behavioral rewards program, Federal and New Jersey Child Nutrition Program requirements.
3. Plan and orchestrate the use of facilities with the administration as appropriate including: program maintenance and improvement, building maintenance needs, and conducting NJDOE mandated fire and emergency school drills.
4. Conduct staff and labor staffing operations on a daily basis including: staff schedules, personnel management issues and assists with personnel recommendations for employee hiring, promotions and termination.
5. Provides guidance to professional and support staff while working effectively as a school liaison with other departments including EMYL residential program.
6. Supports communication with public and private entities in program development and public relations development.
7. Active participant in child study team and district level meetings including communication with parents in the administration of school programming.
8. Maintains a working knowledge of New Jersey Administrative Code (Titles 6 & 6A) while maintaining student records.
9. Assist with the coordination and development of the Extended School Year Program.
10. Assist the administration with the implementation of disciplinary actions, based on both NJDOE and Federal regulatory requirements.
11. Attends NJDOE mandated professional development activities.
12. Effectively provides supervision of certificated and non-certificated personnel.
12. Provide the staff with the development and up-date of course of study content curriculum guides in meeting mandated NJDOE requirements.
14. Assists with the strategic planning of the school program.
15. Assists in monitoring student restraints in consideration with the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) and Federal regulatory requirements.
16. Provide oversight with student Behavior Intervention Plans and the implementation of alternative educational planning.
17. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
18. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Master's Degree.
2. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Principal, Supervisor, or Teacher.
3. NJDOE Criminal History Review
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 


Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. NJDOE Principal Certificate or NJDOE Principal Certificate of Eligibility.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $51.12 Hourly
