The Conflict of Interest Analyst is responsible for the evaluation, analysis, and administrative support for HMH's Conflict of Interest compliance programs and/or processes across the HMH enterprise. This includes: financial conflicts of interest and research, Institutional Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, OpenPayments (Sunshine Act), School of Medicine, Senior Leadership and HMH Boards. This position will also develop training and conduct outreach including but not limited to development of resources, webpage maintenance, and presentations. The position requires excellent attention to detail, good communication, initiative, and the ability to effectively manage competing high priority tasks while maintaining confidentiality. The position will report to the Research Compliance Officer and have regular communication and provide support to HMH's Chief Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Conflict of Interest Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Conduct thorough, objective and timely investigations of potential conflicts, including analyzing financial disclosures, conducting interviews, contracts, grant applications, research protocols, and publicly available information.
  • Prepare case summaries and risk assessments of potential conflicts of interest for evaluation by Hackensack Meridian Health's Conflict of Interest Committees and Senior HMH leadership in accordance with Hackensack Meridian Health policies, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support HMH's Conflict of Interest Research Committee, including scheduling meetings, documentation of minutes, preparation of management plans, and distribution of Committee communications.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Research Administration, Technology Transfer, Medical Staff Office, Leadership, Procurement, Legal, Human Resources and other offices as necessary to identify and proactively mitigate potential conflicts of interests.
  • Independently track and monitor COI disclosures, management plans, and other relevant information to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the COI program by identifying opportunities for improvement including but not limited to developing new policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HMH's COI policies, laws, regulations, and funder requirements related to conflicts of interest and commitment and advises HMH disclosure population on requirements.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices including current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to conflict of interest and conflict of commitment management.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, public health, biomedical sciences, business administration or other relevant areas of study (Combination of relevant job experience and college courses may be substituted for bachelor's degree).
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in healthcare and/or research administration.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • 5 or more years experience working higher education and/or academic medical center.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $72,072.00 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
