The Prenatal Coordinator navigates OB patients throughout the pregnancy lifecycle including care education; coordinating routine and diagnostic testing, results interpretation, and procedure scheduling under the supervision of the physician(s) and practice manager. Serves as a liaison between the patients and provider. Performs other clerical duties as requested.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Prenatal Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Meets with all Prenatal Patients at their Initial Visit discussing all lab testing as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine testing and ultrasounds
  • Rooms patient, takes vital signs and records in medical chart
  • Assists providers during obstetrical visits
  • Ensures Initial Prenatal blood work is completed
  • Tracks all Integrated Screen blood work. Makes sure all tests are resulted and included in the chart
  • Reviews test results with patients
  • Assists providers during routine obstetrical office visits as needed
  • Provides information for Rhogam injection and administration
  • Provides vaccine education in pregnancy
  • Provides nutrition in pregnancy
  • Coordinates care for Gestational Diabetics (i.e., provides Rx for glucometer, provides contact information for nutritional counseling and confirms appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine physician)
  • Coordinates care of timely injections for patients with history of preterm delivery kActs as liaison between patient and provider to prenatal questions.
  • Schedules all inductions, C sections and Suction D&C¿s with labor and delivery nurses
  • Sets up home health care for patients who are hyperemic or need wound care
  • Responsible for weekly EDC report, tracking anticipated and actual deliveries for the practice.
  • Completes all disability/FMLA paperwork
  • Educates other Medical Assistants in the practice of Obstetrics
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • 1+ years LPN/CMA experience in a OBGYN setting.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or Certified Registered Medical Assistant or National Certified Medical Assistant or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $22.77 Hourly
