Performs a variety of basic electrical tasks relating to assisting with repairs, installs, replacements and tests of electrical apparatus and supporting electrical circuitry of the hospital's power and lighting distribution system.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Under the general guidance and direction of a licensed electrician, performs tasks such as:
    • Monitors for lighting problems, replaces burned out bulbs and ballasts in light fixtures as needed
    • Uses tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers knives, saws and wire strippers
    • Assists Electrician in the repair and installation of lighting fixtures and wiring on campus.
    • Performs preventative maintenance on generators, emergency lights and other electrical components and equipment.
    • Replace light fixtures, switches, receptacles after lockout/tagout of the circuit has been accomplished.
    • Cleans lenses on light fixtures
    • Basic knowledge of P.C.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Under guidance and direction of a licensed electrician, works from blue prints, drawings, layouts or other specifications; assures work compliance with the National Electrical Code and local electrical regulations.
  • Maintains areas undergoing electrical work in a 'broom clean' condition.
  • Reports to Coordinator and/or Manager Plant Operations items outside of specialized area in need of repair of other work.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the construction or general maintenance fields.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $18.23 Hourly
