The Manager of Decision Support (DSS) is responsible for managing staff, training, and maintaining the Syntellis Healthcare Performance Manager (HPM) DSS financial reporting application. Under the supervision of their Director, will oversee staff and provide analytical support and reporting templates utilized by Senior and other leaders for Hackensack Meridian Health's (HMH) Care Transformation Teams (CTS) across the network.

 

This position is hybrid. The ideal candidate will have a specialization in HPM or similar cost accounting systems.

 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Manager of Decision Support (DSS) at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Provide leadership in staff management.
  • Provide leadership in overseeing DSS HPM application/structure/cost accounting.
  • Provide leadership in overseeing DSS HPM Intermediate Product/Product Charge Description Master structure including additions, price changes and Relative Value Units (RVU's).
  • Provide leadership in overseeing DSS cost accounting system including but not limited to: a. Maintain product standards and reconciliation process for variable direct labor & supply cost for each cost category on a monthly basis. b. Develop and maintain product standard up-dating schedule (monthly) and meet with key revenue-generating and ancillary departments to assure accuracy of products and standards. c. Maintain indirect cost allocation methodology (step-down) including departmental statistics and auditing. d. Maintain the coordination of up-dating the charge description (monthly) as it relates to product standards and new products. 5. Update the DSS HPM structure with any changes in the general ledger (PeopleSoft) including: a. Reconciliation of DSS HPM to General Ledger Source System (PeopleSoft). b. Reconciliation of DSS HPM to Financial Statements. c. Reconciliation of DSS HPM to Departments. d. Maintain Chart of Accounts that include adding direct/indirect cost centers, inactivating cost centers and adding accounts.
  • Develop and provide monthly cost accounting audit process and documentation including but not limited to: a. Document and confirm successful EPIC unit cost reconciliation between EPIC source file to selected facility departments and make adjustments as needed. b. Document and confirm accurate RVU development of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) RVU dependent departments and nursing units. c. Document and confirm final supply variance audit reports prior to encounter costing. d. Document and confirm department utilization and patient type reconciliation of post encounter costing to financial statements.
  • Provide analytical support for CTS initiatives as directed by the Director DSS: a. Assist in overseeing the planning, coordinating and executing cost accounting and CTS Profit and Loss Statement (P&L) activities and financial modeling. b. Assist in overseeing the development of analytical templates for financial modeling and productivity reporting. c. Assist in developing and analyzing CTS Business unites and newly proposed and existing programs.
  • Assists the Director DSS in providing Strategic Planning/Business Development with analytical templates and provides analytical support including but not limited to providing analytical support in incorporating new and existing programs.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math or related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Healthcare Finance.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Finance, Math-related field.
  • Specialized experience in financial/operational analysis, financial systems, and related functions. 
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Healthcare with specialization in financial/operations analysis, financial systems.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $131,144.00 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
