The Vulnerability Management (VM) Cybersecurity Analyst III is responsible for the effective operation and maturity of Hackensack Meridian Health's (HMH) VM program. Coordinate the identification, assessment, prioritization, and remediation of vulnerabilities across HMH systems and applications. Involves collaboration with Digital Technology Services (DTS)/Information Technology (IT) teams, Patch Management (PM), and vendors to support timely vulnerability mitigation and contribute to improving HMH's cybersecurity posture.

 

This position is primarily remote with the exception of necessary onsite requirements such as a DTS event, troubleshooting event/incident, etc.

 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Cybersecurity Analyst III at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Manage the execution of vulnerability scans across HMH systems and applications according to established schedules.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results to identify and validate vulnerabilities, and assist in prioritizing remediation efforts.
  • Coordinate with DTS/IT teams and system owners to communicate vulnerability findings and track remediation. 
  • Develop and maintain VM reports and dashboards to monitor key metrics. 
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to VM tools and technologies.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on assigned systems and applications. 
  • Provide guidance and support to DTS/IT teams on vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Monitor the latest vulnerability trends, exploits, and cybersecurity advisories.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to peers and other personnel on VM best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of VM processes and procedures. 
  • Travel to any HMH location, possibly with minimal notice, to provide immediate on-site support for cybersecurity incidents, urgent investigations, or other critical requests from cybersecurity or hospital leadership. 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Work experience (4 years) may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 5-7 (9+ if no degree) years of experience in a cybersecurity-related role or similar IT role, with a VM focus.
  • In-depth knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools, vulnerability assessment methodologies, risk scoring systems (e.g., Common Vulnerability Scoring System [CVSS]), and remediation techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills. 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity and a commitment to continuous learning in the VM domain.
  • Ability to travel to other HMH locations as needed.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience with enterprise VM platforms (e.g., Qualys, Nessus).
  • Experience with penetration testing tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of security automation and orchestration.
  • Experience with cloud security technologies and best practices (e.g., Amazon Web Services [AWS], Azure, Google Cloud Platform [GCP]).
  • Familiarity and/or experience working in healthcare provider environments. 
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare-specific regulations and standards (e.g., Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA]/Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act [HITECH]).

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Certified in at least one of the following: a. International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) Certification b. Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Certification c. CompTIA Certification d. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) e. Or other related cybersecurity certification

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Vendor certifications in Vulnerability Management products.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $111,924.80 Annually

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.


Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
