The Digital Technology Services (DTS) EPIC Digital Specialist reports to the Information Technology (IT) Training Director and is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging and effective e-learning courses and materials for the EPIC training team at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). Serves as a Learning Management System (LMS) subject matter expert, providing LMS administration support to the network.

 

This position is hybrid. 

 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Digital Technology Services (DTS) EPIC Digital Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and instructional designers to analyze learning needs and develop effective e-learning solutions.
  • Design and develop interactive e-learning modules, videos, simulations, quizzes, and other digital learning materials.
  • Utilize a variety of authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Rise 360) to create engaging and interactive content. 
  • Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure functionality and compatibility across different platforms and devices.
  • Supports LMS integration with authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Rise 360) and virtual ILT platforms (e.g., Adobe Connect, Zoom, WebEx )
  • Incorporate interactive elements such as gamification, branching scenarios, and simulations to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers to execute e-learning methodologies (Intake, Script Writing, Recording, Post-Production, Packaging) for EPIC training needs
  • Design and develop assessments to measure learning effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update existing e-learning courses and materials, and collaborate with other team members to ensure consistency and quality of learning materials. 
  • Assign students to courses, and LMS support (e.g., loading, creating, modifying/removing courses, adding/removing curriculum, and end-user proficiency exams).
  • Creates and runs LMS training reports for projects and operational needs. 
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest e-learning trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
  • Maintain accurate records of development activities and project progress.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Associate's degree, preferably in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing e-learning courses using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or Rise 360.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and multimedia development tools.
  • Proven experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration and the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) compliance.
  • E-learning course development experience with Adobe Captivate.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with a passion for creating innovative learning experiences.
  • Excellent customer service presence.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Google Suite of Applications, particularly Google Sheets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as an e-learning developer, learning and development specialist, or digital content specialist for human resources and/or EPIC training teams, or in a healthcare setting. 
  • Experience utilizing SuccessFactors and/or Workday Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience implementing video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Audacity), and Virtual ILT software (e.g., Adobe Connect, Zoom, WebEx).
  • Experience with Digital Adoption Tools
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 
  • Experience with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  • Experience with xAPI and other learning technologies.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $95,555.20 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
