The Director of Post Award Administration is responsible for leadership and oversight of all post-award financial activities related to sponsored research grants across the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. Ensures compliance with sponsor regulations, manages a team of grant finance professionals, develops and implements policies and procedures, and collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure the sound financial management of grants.

 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Director for the Post-Award Clinical Research Foundation Network at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • Develop and implement strategic financial plans for post-award grant management.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the post-award grants finance team.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to principal investigators, department administrators, sponsors, and other institutional departments.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of post-award grant management, including but not limited to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and closeout.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and sponsor requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and negotiation of grant budgets with sponsors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations related to grants.
  • Manage internal and external audits related to grant finances.
  • Implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of grant finance professionals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and systems to support grant financial management.
  • Effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless grant operations.
  • Represent the department on institutional committees and task forces related to research administration.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant grant expenditure reporting experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of proven leadership and management experience.
  • Extensive experience in research administration, with a focus on post-award grant management.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations and guidelines (e.g., Uniform Guidance, A-21).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and systems.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

 

  • Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Public Administration (MPA).

 

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

 

  • Certified Clinical Research Administrator (CRA) designation.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $180,918.40 Annually

Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.


Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
