The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides collaborative medical management of patients in the hospital. Works with the physicians to assist with workflow, clinical documentation, clinical follow-up, optimizing resource utilization, and compliance with quality measures. Works collaboratively with other members of the hospital team in the provision of patient care, with the underlying objective of enhancing the quality of clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, clinical documentation, improving patient throughput and reducing length of stay.
This is for inpatient care management at Palisades Medical Center. Day position for (4) ten hour shifts (after orientation) 7:30am-6pm.

1. Provides appropriate collaborative medical care as outlined in the Clinical Privilege Delineation granted to the Nurse Practitioner through Medical Staff credentialing process. To include but not limited to: Conducts comprehensive patient assessments in the adult patient. Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures, recommends tests and monitors the results. Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan. 2. Ensures completeness and accuracy of patient charts and maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. 3. Document patients progress and assess patient needs. Documentation supports the severity of illness of the patients and the relative resource consumption associated with their care. Assists with patient care management; provides follow-up care to patients; consultation; education; and updates physicians on patients status. 4. Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Educate patients on care options and assist them in making decisions on available options. 5. Collaborates with attending physicians and consultants as appropriate to patient care. . 6. Assist in coordinating the activities of patient care. Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient's care progression 7. Demonstrate effective communication skills with the interdisciplinary team 8. Prescribe medications in accordance with the governing laws established by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing 9. May provide emergency care to adult patients with the collaborating physician as warranted by the patient's condition. Supplemental Job Functions: 10. Independently participates in continuing education and maintains documentation. 11. Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, patients, and other multidisciplinary team members for improvement which promote excellence in care and clinical outcomes. 12. Participates in policy/procedure reviews for updating with current evidence-based and value-based practices 13. Promotes a collaborative work environment which supports the organizational mission, behavior expectations and values. 14. Promotes innovation within clinical practice by seeking opportunities to bring new clinical knowledge into practice. 15. Identifies ethical care issues and coordinates interdisciplinary collaborative meetings to resolve those issues. 16. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 17. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Graduate of an National League for Nursing(NLN)/ American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) accredited program in nursing and nurse practitioner. 2. Master Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner. 3. Maintains clinical competencies through participating in continuing educational programs (contact hours per years), and clinical practice as mandated by Board of Nursing and national certification body. 4. Unrestricted license to practice in New Jersey. 5. Eligible for credentialing and appointment to Medical Staff. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 7. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. 8. Requires ability to read and concentrate frequently to check accuracy of computer reports, correspondence, etc. 9. Requires ability to read, understand, analyze and interpret policies and procedures. 10. Requires ability to deal with stress of dealing with the public, frequent interruptions, and working on more than one task concurrently. 11. Requires flexibility in order to respond to changes in priorities, special project assignments, and emergency situations. 12. Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in order to provide effective patient care. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. 2. Minimum of 3 years professional experience, and one year experience as Nurse Practitioner. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. New Jersey (NJ) State Professional Registered Nurse License. 2. NJ State Advanced Practice Nurse Certification. 3. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers. 4. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Licenses and Certifications Preferred: 1. National Provider Identifier (NPI) number. 2. NJ Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) license. 3. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number. 4. PECOS Certification.
