Responsibilities

The Unit Coordinator, Oncology Srv performs clerical and admission tasks for the Chemotherapy & Infusion Outpatient Service unit. The incumbent coordinates care and collaborates with referring physician practices and clinical staff on patient registration and scheduling needs.

 

  • Obtains required information for registration & scheduling of all outpatients for Chemotherapy & Infusion services. This is not limited to obtaining the order, H&P, labs and information necessary to be scanned into the patient charts prior to their visit.
  • Completes the Epic Registration process, which includes updating and verifying all patient demographics, & emergency contacts.
  • Enters insurance information and any Medicare requirement screens and electronically verifies patients insurance.
  • Collaborates with Financial aid department, authorizations department & charity Care office for treatment authorization verification and referrals.
  • Performs daily maintenance and updating of the Epic Order workque - links orders to appointments and maintains the daily patient workque for registration and appointment updates.
  • Obtains, labels & maintains patient information being scanned into Media Manager.
  • Receives and safeguards patient information from physician offices & MSK.
  • Coordinates with MSK and various physician offices and staff members to set-up and coordinate patient appointments.
  • Manages MSK process which includes updating and maintaining an excel spreadsheet for MSK blood transfusion patients, and preparing and sending the Transfusion Administration Record (TAR) to MSK for all patients that received transfusions.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with clinical staff in addressing patient care needs such as scheduling and managing schedule updates, patient referrals, transfusion order updates and specific transfusion requirements.
  • Performs secretarial duties such as greeting all patients, answering phones, checking in/out patients for their visit, ordering supplies and office equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains patient chart log for charts housed at Iron Mountain.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Software training and computer knowledge.
  • Experience with Epic Cadence scheduling.
  • Experience with Epic prelude registration.

 

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $20.32 Hourly
