Incumbent is responsible for the safe and continuous operation of the Boiler Plant and related equipment within the Department under the appropriate state licenses. The incumbent is also accountable for the proper care of assigned tools, equipment, material and supplies. May perform duties and responsibilities at locations separated from the Medical Center as necessary and all other duties as required.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a License Boiler Operator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Maintains and repairs boiler site glass. Maintains a thorough system knowledge of all equipment. Performs control
    testing on boiler water condensate. Maintains air compressors and water softeners.
  • Repairs abnormal conditions. Insures all boiler strainers and nozzles are cleaned. Repairs leaks, faulty gauges,
    disconnects, etc. as required. Maintains chiller equipment and perform pump changeovers as needed.
  • Maintains power plant log books. Maintains power plant machinery log daily. All boiler logs are submitted to the office
    for filing. Maintains miscellaneous logs are kept up to date and accurate.
  • Paints equipment, piping and floor as needed. Secures all hand tools.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • 3 Years as a Boiler Operator and/or on the job training at JFK Medical Center.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • New Jersey Blue Seal License.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $32.92 Hourly
