The Plumber performs plumbing tasks on all facilities piping systems in the Nutley Campus.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Plumber at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Performs repairs on water and steam supply lines, drain lines, plumbing fixtures, and domestic hot water equipment.
  • Remove blockages, fix leaks, install/replace piping.
  • Utilizes electrical and mechanical tools, hand tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts gauges, meters, etc. to perform required work.
  • Performs other duties of Plant Operations as requested.
  • Maintains all plumbing power tools and hand tools in good condition. Responsible for shop neatness.
  • Reads blue prints/specifications on facilities piping systems and discusses with facilities Manager or Director.
  • Maintains areas undergoing plumbing work in a broom clean condition.
  • Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 8 hours a day.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates with courses related to the plumbing field.
  • Successfully completed plumbing journeymen training and/or experience in industry as a plumber.
  • Stands, walks, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls material and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally works on ladders.
  • Changing depending on job; dirt, dust, fumes, grease, water, steam and various Plant Operational compounds.
  • Works inside and outside on wet surfaces.
  • Hazards: Cuts, bruises, strains, falls. Subject to odors and gases when working on open plumbing lines.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $34.65 Hourly
