The Director Imaging Services oversees the operations of all services provided by Diagnostic Imaging, including X-Ray, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology. Provides leadership to ensure the highest quality service, and appropriate use of resources, while maximizing opportunities for continued growth and revenue with sound business practices. This position is responsible for Diagnostic Imaging operations within JSUMC and HOPE Tower (including any other hospital-based locations).

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Director of Imaging Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Responsible for the overall direction and supervision of all components of Diagnostic Imaging. Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the activities of Diagnostic Imaging in accordance with corporate policy.
2. Develops measurable goals and objectives on an annual basis. Provides periodic status reports.
3. Establishes policies and procedures for Diagnostic Imaging in consultation with network and hospital leadership. Seeks out and initiates solutions to problems. Identifies issues of importance and develops relevant policies, programs and proposals for potential implementation.
4. Responsible for planning and direct supervision of all technical aspects of all diagnostic imaging modalities.
5. Ensures departmental compliance with Medical Center policies and procedures, applicable licensing regulations; TJC standards, and all applicable State and Federal regulations.
6. Develops and maintains justifiable annual budgets, taking into account historical data and projected needs within prescribed time frames. Monitors expenses, modifies operational expenditure where appropriate and presents clearly documented variance reports, as necessary.
7. Develops and continually ensures that a planned, systematic and ongoing process for monitoring, evaluating, and improving departmental operations, systems, and services are addressed through appropriate documentation and communication. After weighing risks and/or cost benefit analysis, makes decisions consistent with department and Medical Center philosophies and objectives. Seeks consultation, if necessary. 
8. Oversees the coordination of a variety of administrative, fiscal, and technical activities to ensure the efficient operation of all diagnostic imaging modalities.
9. Selects, coaches, and develops key subordinates ensuring consistent application of department policies and programs while providing an orderly succession of qualified people.
10. Assesses market drivers, develops and implements growth strategies to ensure continued market share.
11. Evaluates and recommends equipment and services to maintain the highest quality of service, safety and best prices.
12. Meets regularly with department leadership to ensure that all procedures are performed in accordance with appropriate licensure and optimal degree of quality and safety.
13. Works with departmental and medical center leadership and staff to continuously monitor and improve patient satisfaction.
14. Interacts daily with Network and Medical Center Administration, Physicians, Section Heads, Technologists, Support Staff, Vendors, Contractors, Patients and Guests ensuring the highest level of customer service for each.
15. Accountable for establishing, monitoring and reporting on departmental key metrics
16. In collaboration with medical center and network leadership, coordinates expansion, renovation and construction projects for diagnostic imaging departments.
17. Troubleshoots Radiology Information System issues with Information Technology, Clinical Informatics, Ambulatory
Registration, and Finance, and develops workflows and processes to reduce system errors.
18. Identifies opportunities and leads periodic reviews and assessment for Radiology Information System workflow and maintenance leading to the identification of opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce redundancies.
19. Schedules monthly departmental meetings and in-services, or more frequently as needed, utilizing staff and outside companies.  Champions a daily huddle for the department to promote open communication while reflecting HRO principles. 
20. Provides educational opportunities to team members in conjunction with Chairman of Radiology to support engagement and service quality.
21. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).  This process includes communication with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, education, literacy, etc.).
22. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
23. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
24.Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Bachelor's Degree.
2. Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in hospital operations
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or other health related field.
2. Acute hospital experience
3. Radiology clinical & leadership experience.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License or NJ Registered Radiological Technologist License or Nuclear Medical Technologist License or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification.

 

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

1. Valid NJ License in Radiologic Technology, Sonography, Nuclear Medicine and/or MRI Technology

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $146,057.60 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
