The Curricular Design / Instructional Tech Coordinator assists the Senior Director of Instructional and Curricular Design to support the faculty and staff at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine (HMSOM) in designing and revising curriculum across all four years and expanding academic support using current and emerging technologies. This role involves assessing learning needs, developing educational sessions, collaborating with faculty on learning objectives and teaching methodologies, ensuring alignment between assessments and objectives, and creating faculty resources such as training materials, online resources, and videos. This role also provides technical support to faculty and students on curricular systems and software, maintains online informational resources, and contributes to curricular technology committees, including those focused on AI.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Curricular Design / Instructional Tech Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Assesses learning needs and develops educational sessions.
  • Works with faculty across all phases on developing, writing or revising learning objectives.
  • Identifies appropriate learning methods based on the learning objectives and assists faculty in incorporating these in courses.
  • Ensures assessments are aligned with the learning objectives.
  • Develops tools, training materials and tip sheets for faculty to aid in the design and revision of sessions.
  • Develops online resources and videos for faculty educational materials.
  • Teaches faculty on learning theories and application of learning theories in designing and teaching courses.
  • Assists students, faculty and staff with the use of curricular technology as required.
  • Provides support to students and faculty in the use of instructional/curriculum systems, software, and programs.
  • Maintains on-line information on the Office of Medical Education and the Instructional & Curricular Design web pages.
  • Assists with liaising for related areas such as Digital Technology Services and Google Technical Support for the onboarding of new technologies.
  • Assists in researching, validating and implementing new educational technologies as necessary.
  • May attend AAMC/Group on Information - Instructional Technology webinars to stay current with technology.
  • Assists with setting and coordinating course materials for Medical Education Curriculum Development and Research courses, including student electives and programs for faculty.
  • Works with faculty and staff on supporting curricular technology related committees, including those on A.I.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

 
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Masters degree in Education, Technology or other relevant area of study, with a speciality in Instructional Design.
  • Minimum of 1 or more years of experience in instructional design.
  • Comfort learning and training others on the use of curricular technologies.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solver, particularly for educational issues.
  • Ability to recommend and develop all types of learning solutions, including online, synchronous, asynchronous, small, and large group classroom teaching.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

 

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience working in an academic or healthcare setting.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $70,668.00 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
