The Patient Care Technician (PCT) Apprenticeship Program Educator assesses prior student knowledge, delivers didactic education using active learning and possibly blended learning methodologies, instructs in skills, and validates knowledge and competency. The PCT Apprenticeship Program Educator is responsible for teaching PCT apprentice classes and PCT preceptor classes. Maintains the standardization and integrity of the apprentice and preceptor education. Responsible for scheduling, coordination with Human Resources, and coordination with students and their managers as to class schedules, ensures placement of apprentice with a qualified preceptor(s). Evaluates the learning experience and curriculum to determine areas for improvement in content, delivery, or educational environment. Collect and assess evaluative data to inform possible program changes. Responsible to maintain and acquire necessary physical resources used in the training process in collaboration with the Manager of the PCT Apprenticeship Program.
1. Creates, monitors, delivers, assesses, and evaluates PCT Apprentice and PCT Preceptor education. Ensures education and competencies are appropriate and meeting regulatory requirements and HMH needs. Coordinates with Nursing Leadership, Clinical Nurse Education Specialists. And program leadership to ensure skill needs are met and new needed skills/competencies are taught and validated.
2. Remediates unsuccessful candidates/students as appropriate, continually focusing on the safe delivery of appropriate patient care.
3. Ensures physical resources are available and appropriate for education/training.
4. Adheres to standardized curriculum to ensure the integrity of the education/training and integrity of the program.
5. Coordinates with candidates/students, leadership, and human resources to ensure the class schedules are publicized, appropriate, and consistent with program goals. Works with the Manager of PCT Apprenticeship Program as a liaison between students, individual campus site point persons, Nursing Professional Development, and Nursing/Hospital Leadership.
6. Collects, analyzes and reports on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested. Develops, recommends and/or implements actions or process improvements as appropriate.
7. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
