The Patient Care Technician Education Assistant functions as a clinical assistant to the Network PCT education team. This position focuses on the education, training and orientation of Patient Care Technician Apprentices and Patient Care Technicians under the direction of a registered nurse educator.
1. Expert in verbalizing and demonstrating all skills required of the Patient Care Technician job role to new hires.
2. Maintains organization and cleanliness of classroom environment.
3. Maintains equipment in good working order and reports issues to RN educators promptly.
4. Maintains par levels of classroom supplies.
5. Performs clerical duties; data entry, assembles and maintains par levels of educational materials.
6. Responds to email in a timely manner.
7. Delivers documents to the hospital as needed.
8. Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance the orientation process.
9. Self directed, self motivated to do more than is expected or required within scope of practice. 10. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
11. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. PCT experience in a hospital setting.
3. Mentoring/precepting experience.
4. Demonstrates strong leadership qualities.
5. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to change.
6. A strong sense of responsibility and accountability for providing education that consistently adheres to HMH policy and procedure.
7. An exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to assist with the delivery of the highest quality of education and service based on a strong sense of focus on patient safety. 8. Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
9. Maintains competence in all aspects of Patient Care Technician job role.
10. Proficient in computer skills including Google applications and Epic.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Completion of HMH PCT Preceptor Course.
2. Nomination for PCT Preceptor of the year award.
3. Nomination for Bee Award.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Certified Patient Care Technician.
