Responsible for familiarizing themselves with the resident's abilities, and implementation and supervision of Therapeutic Recreation services. Therapeutic Recreation services include, but are not limited to, empowerment, maintenance and supportive activities. Upholds the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the department of Therapeutic Recreation.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Assistant Director, Therapeutic Recreation at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation and MDS completion
  • Maintain quality programming based on resident assessment and special needs/interests
  • Maintain effective oral and written communication 
  • Maintain and implement all departmental policies and procedures
  • Assist in appropriate staffing levels
  • Attend CEU workshops/seminars
  • Ensures employees are familiar with State, Federal, local laws and regulations
  • Other Duties as assigned: Handles special projects and rush assignments as needed, in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field CTRS through NTRC or eligible 2. ADC through NCCAP
  • Long-term care facility experience
  • Prior work experience with geriatric and disabled populations
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Valid Driver's License from a USA state and good driving record

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $60,174.40 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
