The covering Stress Lab Fellow will be responsible for oversight of all cardiac stress testing on designated weekends. This job responsibility will only be available to second and third year fellows as based on the required goals and learning objectives set forth for the Cardiovascular Fellowship program.
A day in the life of a Stress Lab Fellow at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1.Supervise exercise, pharmacological and nuclear stress testing and provide appropriate medical management of patients in the Stress Lab to ensure clinical stability.
2. Determine appropriate use for test
3. Knowledge and proficiency in the following areas of general cardiology, and integrate them with nuclear medicine.
4. Understand the indications, contraindications, and interpretation of rest and stress exercise electrocardiography.
5. Understand the indications, contraindications, pharmacology, and physiology of commonly used stress agents.
6. Obtain an understanding of radiation safety.
7. Review pertinent patient information to ensure test is not contraindicated
8. Provide patient education
9. Consent patient for test
10. Collaborate with consulting cardiologist and/or hospitalist
11. Provide preliminary interpretation and communicate any critical findings to the Interpreting Cardiologist
12. Collaborate with charge nurse
13. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
14. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
15. Weekend coverage when APN is not scheduled
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Second or third year Cardiology Fellow
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. BLS
2. ACLS
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Board certification in Nuclear Cardiology
