The Electronic Birth Certificate Coordinator is responsible for the organization, accuracy, and condition of the birth certificate information according to the NJ DOH regulations. The EBC Coordinator is responsible for accurately obtaining and entering data into the Electronic Birth Certificate, maintenance of the electronic System, and transmission of the data to the NJ DOH and the local Department of Health. The EBC Coordinator is responsible for greeting and assisting any person who comes to the nursing unit. In addition, the EBC Coordinator assists the professional nursing staff by performing a variety of tasks relating to direct and indirect patient care and to the maintenance of a clear and well-organized work environment. The individual must be proficient with computer skills, possess exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate functional competencies. The individual must support HMH's mission, vision, and values.
1. Prepares birth certificate information packets. Checks and explains contents of birth certificate forms to parents. Assists families, staff and physicians with the completion of the birth certificate information. Handles complicated birth certificates such as single mothers, mothers who are separated and special cultural aspects.
2. Ensures that the data is entered into the EBC electronic System accurately. Maintains communication with the NJDOH and local DOH in a courteous and efficient manner. Ensures that data is sent (polled) to the NJDOH on time as required. Assists the Nurse Manager with the completion of statistical data including reports and other documents.
3. Assists the nursing staff on the nursing unit when needed.
4. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
5. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. Computer proficiency.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Minimum of 1-2 years prior experience in an acute care setting.
2. Prior experience in Maternal Child Health.
3. Prior experience with Electronic Birth certificates.
