The Sup, Cath Lab is responsible for ensuring safe procedures carried out in delivery of cardiac services to patients.
A day in the life of a Supervisor, Cardiac Catheterization at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Calculates data and ensures records are performed accurately and timely.
2. Conducts extra studies i.e. Mitral and aortic studies, renal angiopressures etc. LV function, measurement of pressure.
3. Ensures proper procedures and catheter equipment requirements are in place.
4. Educates and monitors staff use of procedures, supplies, and equipment.
5. Oversees logging of patient procedure reports and disposition to other hospitals.
6. Ensures adequate operation, placement, and functioning.
7. Provides pre-op teaching to all cardiac catheterization patients.
8. Conducts pre-assessment, set-up, vital sign monitoring, recording of procedures, constant assessment during case, recognition of shock arrhythmias and proper treatment of same, recognition of contrast reaction and treatment of same, recognition of patient needs and safe return.
9. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
10. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Minimum of 5 years cath experience as a scrub tech in a full service cath lab.
2. Supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification or must be willing to obtain after being hired.
