The Manager of Hospital Operations - Assigned Departments is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned areas, personnel and departmental processes throughout Ocean Medical Center. Working in conjunction with the VP of Operations, Administration and Hospital Leaders this position is responsible to ensure that operational, quality, financial and regulatory compliance standards are achieved.

 

We are seeking a dynamic leader to fill a unique, cross-functional role with a dual report to our Emergency Department and Imaging Services leadership. This position is responsible for providing high-level operational oversight and hands-on management in several key areas:

Financial Management: Leading the annual ED operating budget process, conducting monthly P&L variance analysis, and managing accruals.
Data & Analytics: Overseeing Imaging Services and ED data, managing the radiology billing and authorization process, and creating reports and slide decks using Epic and Looker to analyze productivity and other key metrics.
Team Leadership: Serving as the Manager of the Transport Team with full responsibility for recruitment, performance reviews, payroll, scheduling, and daily workflow assignments.
Systems Operations: Managing and maintaining key operational systems to ensure efficiency and integration between departments.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Manager of Hospital Operations at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Assists the VP of Operations in assuring compliance with operational, quality, financial and regulatory standards.
2. Creates and develops programs, work processes, activities, and tasks that support Hospital Operations  and assigned operational projects.
3. Ensures staff onboarding and orientation to assigned areas are smooth, timely and completed appropriately
4. Assists the VP of Operations in assuring the completion and reporting of performance improvement activities and Operational Plans across the Hospital Campus. 
5. Recommends and implements process improvements to reduce expenses and increase productivity.
6. Ensures communication of vital information to the staff through regular staff meetings, rounding and leader standard work.
7. Responsible for providing the VP of Ops relevant data and reporting related to department metrics.
8. Develops reports, statistics, and analysis to support the function of the department.
9. Collaborates with the VP of Operations and site Finance Team in the development of the annual budget.
10. Shares data analysis of surveys such as Joint Commission/DSC's, NDNQI and GPTW as examples, and works with the team to create action plans to correct identified deficits.
11. Assists the VP of Operations in assuring continuity and quality of service and care in accordance with Hackensack-Meridian's vision and mission.
12. Acts as project manager as assigned by Hospital Administration.
13. Provides guidance and supervision and acts as a resource to staff to resolve issues and concerns.
14. Assists in developing and implementing departmental, patient, human resources and financial goals and objectives, as well as the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.
15. Assists in designing, implementing, and evaluating operational systems, policies, and procedures for reducing and/or controlling resource utilization and/or costs, ensuring maintenance of improvement in all assigned areas.
16. Possesses and demonstrates problem solving and decision-making skills, as well as Organizational expertise.
17. Maintains professionalism in dealing with confidential issues and information.
18. Role models cooperation and teamwork to all staff.
19. Manages operations by ensuring coordination of operational flow issues in conjunction with the leadership.
20. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
21. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Minimum of 5 years' hospital experience.
2. Must possess a high level of competency, ability to analyze, comfort with ambiguity, enthusiasm for the role, and the ability to work with the entire health care team.
3. Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks at the same time, excellent communication skills, focus on patient and staff satisfaction.
4. Management experience.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $106,329.60 Annually

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.


Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
