The Courier II is responsible for transporting items needed by the various departments within the Medical Center and throughout all HMH facilities.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • Picks up and delivers materials from Distribution to departments throughout the Cancer Center and HMH facilities. 
  • Returns used unused supplies to the Medical Center.
  • Patient escort/transportation to and from the inpatient units, Radiation, and Radiology.
  • Equipment (recliner, mini med pumps, vital sign machines, pheresis machines, stretchers) being moved from one satellite to another or back and forth to the Medical Center.
  • Delivers patient medical records to all Cancer Center sites following HIM policy ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Delivers chemotherapy and other medications promptly and efficiently adhering to safely handling as per Cancer Center policy.
  • Daily pickup and delivery of all pantry supplies; restock the pantries, ordering of all pantry supplies.
  • As applicable performs daily checking/documenting of refrigerator temperatures following policy. Report all discrepancies to the Nurse Manager. 
  • Provide afternoon meal pickup for the transplant patients.
  • When appropriate, serve lunch trays to patients.
  • Delivers all mail/interoffice communication to the satellites, hospital campus, and within the local community as needed/requested by Cancer Center staff. 
  • Delivers blood and platelets to all Cancer Center sites, adhering to safe handling as per HMH policy.
  • Transportations of all collected specimens to the appropriate labs.
  • Provides daily exchanges of oxygen tanks as directed by charge nurse or Nurse Manager.
  • Provides laundry and supplies to Apartments for Transplant program daily.
  • Pickup of lab specimens and brings them to the lab.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center`s Organizational Competencies. 
  • Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs., and stands a minimum of 8 hours a day.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 
  • Prior experience transporting equipment and supplies.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Valid New Jersey driver`s license.

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $17.32 Hourly
