The Program Coordinator, Cancer Prevention Precision Control Institute (CPPCI) is a key position within the Center for Discovery & Innovation (CDI) with the ability to troubleshoot problems or issues, interface with patients and donors, as well as the ability to manage multiple short and long-term assignments simultaneously. This role efficiently assesses a project, breaks down the project into individual components and tasks and then assigns duties and responsibilities to other staff. This role keeps projects moving on-time and has the ability to pull in additional resources , if necessary, in order to complete and assemble the project.

 

The Center for Discovery and Innovation- CDI was established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) as an academic basic and translational research enterprise to rapidly translate science innovation to the clinic and to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disease and other acute and chronic diseases.  The CDI has grown rapidly since its origins in 2019, and now has 39 labs, 200+ scientists and allied personnel supported by 78 NIH and DoD grants and more than 87 other grants and contracts. Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics and biomarker development, rheumatology and pharmacology.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Program Coordinator, Cancer Prevention Precision Control Institute (CPPCI) at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • The Project Coordinator, CPPCI is the front-line ambassador for the Director of the Cancer Prevention Precision Control Institute and the Director of the Cancer Community Outreach & Engagement Program.
  • Assists in the management of the activities of complex and widely diverse scientific departments/components of the CPPCI as well as the overarching CCOE program.
  • Project manages both short and long-term assignments, including but not limited to preparing data and ad hoc presentations.
  • Troubleshoot problems such as needing to assess priority of requests and finding efficient ways to gather data, ensure accuracy, and then send onward on behalf of the Director.
  • Assigns duties and responsibilities including triaging information such as meeting requests, media, donors, executive level administrator, and research requests. Knows what internal resources are available to help complete responses to requests in the most expeditious and seamless way.
  • Provides overall support for the academic, research, and clinical programs requiring leadership in general administration, operations management, and overall policy and procedure implementation. Ensures the selection and use of resources for maintaining the department's programs.
  • Ensures mandatory training, licensure, and evaluations are completed for all faculty. Coordinates the logistics of visiting scientists and their agendas and tours of CPPCI and the CDI.
  • Assists with management of the CPPCI budget including management of documentation to support expenses.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to faculty and staff in the department, if necessary. Edits and proofs documents including, but not limited to, abstract submissions, manuscript submissions, and grant submissions.
  • Assists on a broad range of internal and external activities and special projects including staff and faculty recruitment, coordination of national and international meetings, and all administrative matters.
  • Manages budget and coordinates running of shows for special events. Tracks expenses, contacts vendors and ensures that events stay within approved budget.
  • Conducts administrative support to maintain department operations, such as scheduling appointments and meetings, screening calls, maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, preparing correspondence, composing memos, maintaining departmental manuals and files, etc.
  • Requires a wide degree of creativity, professional judgment and latitude in order to accomplish goals.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's diploma/degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 4 or more years of experience in high level project management.
  • Experience in health care or corporate sectors.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Medical and research-related terminology.

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $82,513.60 Annually

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.


Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
