The CMO Emeritus, JSUMC will serve during the transition year of the new CMO to ensure success of the new CMO. This role supports network and local PI interventions and monitors the Gainsharing project to ensure appropriate completion and payment for the current year. The CMO Emeritus, JSUMC closely collaborates with legal, and FTE committee to ensure appropriate and timely contracting for new hires, renewing physicians, on call providers, service providers and special projects. The CMO Emeritus, JSUMC serves as a mentor for the new Chief Medical Officer, to provide strategic, visionary, cultural, historical, and political insights about the organization and medical staff, and to be a sounding board for leadership approaches to be undertaken.

Responsibilities

Gainsharing Initiative:

  • Support related network and local performance improvement interventions. 
  • Direct the Gainsharing Steering Committee over the remaining 1 year of the project (2025). 
  • Oversee payments to physician participants. 
  • Monitor Clinical and Standard Work metrics for impact on payments. 
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator for the Gainsharing project to fulfill the above. Hospital Operations Interface with Contracting: 
  • Support the administration through the requesting of contracts for new hires, renewing physicians, on call providers, service providers, and special projects. 
  • For vital contracts for the organization, be a navigator through the various requirements by executives, agencies, departments, benchmarking consultants, regional and executive committees, to bring contracts to completion, e.g. Google Term Sheet form, various job descriptions, draft contract review. 
  • Support communication to candidates including timely updates of progress, reminders for completion of key documents required for furthering their review, and answering questions for contract understanding. 
  • Coordinate FTE Committee for discussion of new and renewing physicians in the region with executive assistant support. 
  • Monitor performance and subsidy to major service providers, e.g. JSAA, URG. 
  • Proactively maintain a JSUMC contracting list, which anticipates future contracts coming due with the goal to bring completion of contracts closer to ending terms. Coaching and Mentoring: 
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to future leaders in the organization seeking career and leadership advice. 
  • Meet regularly with the new Chief Medical Officer as desired, to provide strategic, visionary, cultural, historical, and political insights about the organization and medical staff, and be a sounding board for leadership approaches to be undertaken. 
  • Meet regularly with the new Medical Director of Quality and Outcomes to provide strategic, visionary, cultural, historical, and political insights about the organization and medical staff, and be a sounding board for leadership approaches to be undertaken to address quality issues. General: 
  • Provide periodic updates as requested on work in progress and completed. 
  • Seek direction for key decision points for ongoing projects. 
  • Take on projects beyond what is listed, as requested and mutually agreed upon. 
  • Participate in onsite face to face meetings as requested. 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Graduate of an MD or DO program
  • Previous experience as a Chief Medical Officer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Physician contracting experience

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Medical Doctor License or Doctor of Osteopathy License

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $5,304.00 Annually

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.


Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
